Genetic and Phenotypic Correlations between Characteristics in Local Guinea Fowl in Ghana

This study aimed at estimating genetic and phenotypic correlations among traits in local Guinea fowl Ghana. Animal farm of Akenten Appiah-Menka University Skills Training Entrepreneurial Development Mampong-Ashanti campus was where the took place, from 2015 to 2018. Data for experiment obtained keets made up 300 males females. Parents consisted 110 dams 22 sires. Arithmetic method Pearson’s product moment correlation were used estimates. In male fowl, values growth characteristics ranged -0.63 0.93. Between other characteristics, estimates 0.29 0.97, -0.67 0.43, -0.62 0.94 respectively. Values parameters between -0.32 0.49. Range figures recorded survival, docility, dressing percentage -0.28 0.28, -0.46 0.18, -0.41 0.36 correspondently. female on hand, range -0.80 0.95. reproductive -0.47 0.9, -0.52 0.58, -0.58 0.82 -0.59 0.9 The fell -0.39 0.46. Phenotypic -0.26 0.47, 0.19, -0.35 to0.47 -0.33 0.47 higher than one (1) some recorded. To conclude, discoveries this are general agreement what pertains livestock species.
